1              Island hopping to Mull, Iona, Staffa (Fingals Cave), Colonsay and Teshnish

Day trips and tours form Oban to the islands are hugely popular and you must at least visit Mull. For operators and timetables –

2              Tarbert and Loch Fyne
You can do this as a lovely round trip and take in Inveraray and Dalmally. Enjoy a very poleasent drive south via Arduaine (Gardens) and Kilmartin to Lochgilphead and head south to Tarbet. Come back via Lochgilphead and inveraray to Dalmally and loach Awe, part Cruachan and back to Oban.

3              Loch Lomond and the Trossachs
An area so famous it needs no further mention. Two lovely routs to the National Park are via Inveraray and Arrochar to Tarbet – or travel via Cruachan, Loch Awe and Dalmally to Tyndrum, Cranlarich and on south to Loch Lomond. Why not stop by the famous Drovers Inn for a spot of lunch?

4              Inveraray day trip
Inveraray is well worth a day trip on its own, take in the Jail, the Castle, and lovely Shops, take a bar lunch in the popular George Hotel. It is a busy and delightful town at the head of Loch Fyne. Go via Dalmally, return via Lochgilphead perhaps.

5              Fort William via Appin
This is a delightful drive to enjoy at your leisure. Lunch at our sister hotel he best Western Imperial hotel in Fort William. Visit the Ben Nevis Distillery or take the Nevis Range Gondola. From Fort William it’s a short drive to Glenfinnan and Mallaig, also to Ballachulish and Glencoe.

6              Glencoe, via Loch Awe and Tyndrum
This is a lovely way to visit Glencoe, the road along Loch Awe is delightful, then north, you experience Scotland’s great wilderness, Rannoch Moor. Remember to visit the Glencoe Visitor Centre. If time permits, return via Ballachulish near Appin, makes a delightful scenic round trip. Lunch at Clachaig Inn,

7              Perth via Crianlarich and Crieff
A longer day trip but well worth it. Travel via Cruachan, Loch Awe and Dalmally; join the road to Perth at Crianlarich. Crieff is a lovely lunch stop, or perhaps Perth and award winning Opus One restaurant at New County hotel. Perth is very famous for great shopping.

8              A railway tour on West Highland Line

Considered by many to be the finest railway journey in the world. Catch the train at Oban station, and you can join the Line North or South at Crianlarich. Enjoy fabulous scenery in both directions. The trip to Fort William via Rannoch and Loch Treig is special.
